The torah.. was it just for the Jews?

This is something I've been hearing lately. That Jesus came so that we Gentiles could be saved.. because before Christ only the Jews were allowed to be a part of God's family. Let's see if that's true.

First, remember that in the old testament.. there was either the House of Israel.. or the Gentiles. Only two choices. So, a stranger was a Gentile..

Did he ever instruct the House of Israel to call Gentiles unclean? To cut them off, etc?

Ex 22:21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Ex 23:9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Le 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

De 10:19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

De 24:14 ¶ Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:

Seems that was NOT the case! He wanted them to love the strangers.

Okay, so we know they should love the Gentiles.. but the law was still for them right? No one else could or was under that law right? Lets see..

Le 17:8 And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,

Le 17:10 ¶ And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

Le 17:13 And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.

Le 20:2 Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

Le 22:18 Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all his freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering;

Jos 8:35 There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them

2Sa 22:45 Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.

So.. by simply reading these scriptures it's plain to see that view point is wrong. He delivered the law to the House of Israel and their descendants/ ancestors. But the law was not exclusive to them. Anyone that wanted to join them simply had to keep the law and they were no longer a stranger.. but as one born into the family.. We see that really well illustrated here.

Ex 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

Another one that couldn't make it more plain that God did not have a seperate law for the gentiles..

Nu 9:14 And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the LORD; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.

Also.. why would Jonah have went to Nineveh to preach to the Gentiles if the law was not for them?

Some things I did not know.

1- Did you know Saul/ Paul never changed his name? Take a look.. Paul ALSO called Saul. that is not a name change. That is using the Hebrew form of your name with the Hebrews and the Greek form of your name with the Greeks.

2- Did you know Paul tells us to keep the feasts?

I cor. 5
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

This is plainly speaking about the feast of unleavened bread which starts the day after passover. I think I might have even heard this applied to the Lord's Supper. In no way does it say communion, Lord's supper, etc.. here. It says FEAST which in the greek means festival. What feast did they have to purge the leaven from their homes for? The feast of unleavened bread.

farther evidence that Paul kept the feasts

Ac 12:3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
Ac 20:6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

In fact.. if you look farther Paul planned his trips AROUND the feasts!

Ac 20:16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
1Co 16:8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.

Why were these dates important to him? Why did he keep them? Was he not teaching that you no longer did these things? I ask.. where does he say NOT to keep them? The verses I have always seen applied to this are taken woefully out of context and would make Paul a hypocrite. He did NOT preach to do one thing and DO another! Why would he do such a thing and still be upheld as a true apostle?

If we truly believe that he taught against these things.. why then did he keep them?

Making the Bible Mesh

That is really our main goal in this study.. making the Bible mesh.

Here are a few more verses that don't seem to mesh with the belief that the old law is gone.. (and this isn't just my blog.. Jesse just doesn't like to post apparently LOL. So some things (like this) are pulled from emails of his and then I add in a few thoughts and post it)

Mt 28:
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulcher with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Did He say, teach them a new law, one that does away with the things I taught and did? No. Jesus was the "old" law made flesh, and what He taught was the old law the way God wanted it observed, from the heart, with truth and purpose and love. He said to go forth and teach HIS COMMANDMENTS! What did he command? Everything he commanded and preached was from the old law.

Okay, so we know there was a space of 40 days after he arose before he left. So I've heard it said that Jesus preached the new law to them then. Where does it say he did this? That is NOT an event that is recorded anywhere in the Bible. To say he did such is writing your own theory into the Bible. It's like making up a miracle he "did" that would prove our point. You just can NOT do that. We must stick with what is recorded.

Also, they recorded his prayer that he told them to teach, they recorded his sermon on the mount, etc.. are we supposed to really believe that the biggest and most shocking thing he would have preached did not get recorded in ANY of the gospels? It simply says that he taught them things pertaining to the kingdom of heaven. He tells them that you will soon recieve the holy spirit. He was preparing them for pentacost which would happen just 10 days after he left them. They record that he told them to go forth and teach the commandments but all these new things he taught them they didn't record? That just doesn't make sense. But more importantly, it's not in the Bible. If he did teach them new things in that time frame why did they not follow them? We know Peter was still not eating unclean food and they still meet at the close of the sabbath. Why were they still doing these things if Christ told them to stop?

Paul said:

1Co 11:1 ¶ Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. And we know Paul kept the old law and Jesus kept the old law.

In Acts 21 it talks about the time when the Jews were getting ready to arrest Paul. Why? because he wasn't walking according to the law, they thought he was teaching differently than the law, and he brought Gentiles into the synagogue (why would he do that if they no longer worshiped that way?) So what does Paul do? have no defense? Nope.. instead he is instructed by the elders to go to the temple and purify himself so they will know he KEPT THE LAW!

We also have recorded Romans 15:4.
Ro 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

So I've always heard that it just means there that we could use it to learn about how Christ was prophesied, about how God use to be (although we know God is the same yesterday today and forever), etc.. But let's look at the meaning of that verse.

It says the old law was written for our INSTRUCTIONS, for our DOCTRINE, for our TEACHING (that is the greek definition of that word)

Another thing that bugs me is just the logic of it.
What was the purpose of the law? Say just eating kosher. What was the point of it? They couldn't eat catfish. Why not? A catfish is a bottom feeder.. it cleans the ocean of the bacteria and toxins so the rest of the oceanic life can breath freely. That's not food! That's a machine!

Then there are pigs. They will and can eat ANYTHING. They can eat poison snakes and be fine. Why? they do not discreet poison. They hold it in their bodies forever. It ends up in their flesh. Then we um.. eat that flesh that holds the toxins. GAG. There is also trichinosis.. it is in undercooked meat (worms) so okay, we cook it well.. but you can NOT COOK IT OUT OF PORK. really. again GAG.

So, we know God gave this law not to put them in bondage but to preserve their health. It was to protect us. So.. our logic says this.

Well, Christ died for us so we can now eat what we want. Since Christ has now died for us God no longer thinks we need to be protected from these harmful foods? That just doesn't make sense to me. Then there is Peter saying (after Christs death) that he has never eaten anything unclean! So he was STILL not eating unclean things.

I've heard a few verses in the new testament that people say refute this. In several of those verses it is specifically talking about not unclean meats, but meats offered to idols. Again, we MUST look at the context of the verses.

Here are other verses I've heard described as saying Kosher is gone.

Mark 7:18-20.

We should first point out this was before his death so it HAD to be old law. otherwise again, he did NOT live the law perfectly and taught against the law he lived under. We know that couldn't happen so it should be end of story. I'll give context to it anyway. Before they saw his disciples eating BREAD with unwashed hands. They said that was wrong because they hadn't washed their hands. They were of course not breaking the law by doing that.. they were breaking the ADDED laws. They had came up with all sorts of special ways to wash your hands. These were not true laws but made up and added one's. So THAT is what law they broke there. So he's saying that things like that don't matter.. if you eat with dirt on your hands it will NOT defile you. However, we still must remember that he never taught or acted apart from the old law so there is no explanation here that would in anyway do away with unclean/ clean foods.

We must also remember the Jews definition of food. It was clean things. NOT unclean foods. For instance. If I owned a farm and told you to go kill whatever you want to eat. Would you run out there and kill our dog to eat? It's unspoken that I mean the COWS.. not the dogs and cats. KWIM?

Acts 10:1 Talks about Cornelius who was a gentile. He had a vision where God told him to send for Peter. At around this time (while the servants were coming to get him) Peter has a vision.

Before he had this vision he was super hungry and had this vision while they were cooking downstairs. In this vision a sheet was let down from heaven holding all sorts of animals. Clean and unclean. A voice came to him saying Rise Peter! kill and eat! So what does he reply? NO lord! I have never eaten anything unclean. Please note, this is AFTER Christ died.. yet he still thought he must and still held to the law of unclean meat. God spoke to him and said what I have cleansed you must not call common! And shows it to him again.. like you didn't get it.. let's go thru this again. Now while he was having this vision the servants had arrived and and asked for Peter.. we must remember the timing of this. In verse 17 it says Peter did NOT get the vision. So if it's so obviously talking about food how did the one who SAW the vision not get this? but let's continue.

So, after the vision was over Peter went and meet the servants (because the spirit told him to do it and to not doubt this). The servants of who? The GENTILE that had sent for him. Let's think about the historical context. The gentiles were considered unclean. But here is an unclean person that is wanting to be preached too. So he went and meet with Cornelius this was a big no-no.. Jews did not go to Gentiles houses... and it wasn't just him. He called all his Gentile friends to come in as well.

verse 28. you know how unlawful it is for me to do this. But GOD HAS SHOWN ME THROUGH A VISION THAT I MIGHT NOT CALL ANY MAN UNCLEAN! Here we have the definition of this! He did not say it meant animals and gentiles were clean.. but that gentiles were not to be called unclean.

This was a BIG deal. Like a HUGE deal. Up until this point the Gospel had only been given to the Jews. The Jews considered and called the Gentiles dogs. They were like dead bodies.. you couldn't touch them or eat with them, etc..

Now, Peter has done this but the rest of the crew back in Jerusalem does not know about this or his vision. So he gets back and they put him on trial! So he explains the vision and what it meant. Saying God showed me that the gentiles are no longer unclean!

Please note.. NOWHERE does it say or does he say that it meant food. That would have been just as big of a deal/ trial. But it did NOT mean that.
____________________________________________________________

So, onto the next verse.

Ro 14:1 ¶ Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

So, we read it as saying the "strong" person believes he can eat all unclean and clean things, the other just thinks they can eat herbs?

Okay, so that doesn't make much sense. shouldn't it say

The one that believeth can eat all things, the weak will only eat unclean things?

But that's not what it says! It's talking about meat vs. herbs. We must take into context this. What was FOOD to these people? Even to a jew today. When you say anything is food it means to them "anything God said I could eat" They don't think.. oh.. I'll go eat a snake or a bat now. No! We don't either! We consider food to be certain animals. THEY DID TOO!

But the key to this verse is that the weak thought herbs only. not just unclean meat. Also, most places where talking about meat offered to idols (and must of the meat sold in the markets then was).. so they thought it was better to eat herbs only so they could avoid that worry.

That section finishes by talking about observing days and eating or not eating. The Jews that made it a law that you had to fast on this particular day, and another particular day.. So he says you decide in your OWN mind when to fast.. We aren't instructed on when to do that.

1 cor. 8

1Co 8:1 ¶ Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
4 ¶ As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7 ¶ Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

So, this is obviously talking about meat offered to idols.. not clean/ unclean foods. He's saying that everyone doesn't know that idols aren't real. They believe this idol is a God so if they eat the meat knowing it was offered to idols they feel that they are eating to the idol. We know that isn't true since the idol isn't real.. so it's just meat KWIM? but.. if there are weaker brethren that don't know that just avoid it so you don't make them think you are eating to idols.. So yeah.. not unclean/ clean but meat offered to idols.

________________________________________________

Next verse..
1 Timothy 4

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

So if we say you must abstain from meats are we considering a doctrine of a demon? We know that he is going to point out a doctrine of a demon. This is the 1st century... if you had said to the Jews then that God said to abstain from unclean foods would they have for a second thought that was a doctrine of a demon? Of course not! They knew that was God's law.

So wait. what does it really say?

That someone would say that you couldn't marry (um.. sound familiar catholic church?)
That someone would say to abstain from meats that god created to be eaten!!

So that doctrine of demons would say that you couldn't marry and you couldn't eat the food that God said was clean. He says that again farther. we must remember that

verse 4-5. we MUST take these verses together.

1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

He says every creature of God is good to be eaten (we KNOW that is not true since some things are poisonous to eat).. that is sanctified by the WORD OF GOD!! So the creatures of God that are good to be eaten are those that are sanctified by the law of God! So it's talking about CLEAN animals here.

Can we count to 3?

This is something that I came across in my studies and Jesse and I studied it out trying to prove someone wrong LOL.. I think we might have proved them right instead. I welcome any responses with all my heart. Either email me or add comments (email is suzyandkids@gmail.com) Just read it and let me know what you think!

Jesus gave us only ONE sign that he was the true messiah. Have we messed that up?

"An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth".

Matthew 12.39-40.

I know it's commonly accepted to be good Friday to Sunday but that of course does not fit the time lime and derives from a very simple misunderstanding of biblical terms.
He was killed on the day of the preparation for the Sabbath so it is read as Friday (before the Sabbath) However, we know from prophecy and many verses in the Bible that he was killed on the day the passover lamb was killed (which means he is OUR passover spotless male lamb killed for us) which was the preparation day for the HIGH sabbath.. because the day after that is the first day of the feast of unleavened bread which is a High sabbath day.

Anyway.. we also know he was buried before Sunset on the day of his death (it was unlawful to bury on the Sabbath which started at sundown) because it says they asked for his body early because the next day was the sabbath.

So.. he goes into the grave before Sundown on a day. If you count forward 3 nights and 3 days it will always but you at before Sundown on a day. Otherwise we have to say Jesus didn't really mean it when he said that was his one true sign.

We know that when his followers came to his grave early on Sunday (before it was light) he was already gone. Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:2, Luke 24:1, John 20:1 all say that.

Mark 16:9 seems to contradict those verses by saying he rose then because of where the punctuation is. However, there was NO punctuation in the original texts.. those were added in when the bible was translated.

Mark 16:9, Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene out of whom he had cast seven devils.

Simply move the comma that was added in..

Now when Jesus was risen, early the first day of the week he appeared first to Mary Magdalene out of whom he had cast seven devils.

And it means something entirely different! That says that after Jesus was risen he showed himself to Mary on the first day of the week. (which was of course the first day he COULD have shown himself to her)

So if he was gone before Sunday morning he could not have risen on Sunday because it wasn't yet sunset.

So if he rose on the sabbath (and it calls him the Lord of the Sabbath) in the bible. That lines up perfectly with the feast days that are mentioned around his Crucifixion.

He would have died on Wednesday at around 3 (which is their 9th hour which it says he cried aloud and died at around that time), before Sundown they asked for his body to bury him because the next day was a sabbath. So he would have went into the tomb before sundown wed night.

So you have wed night, thursday day, thursday night, friday day, friday night, Sabbath day. Lines up perfectly!! We know that they came to the tomb the day AFTER the sabbath and he was gone!!

The Easter Bunny from Hell

This is actually Jesse's lesson that he gave last month.
This you tube link You Tube Link explains it all in a "watchable form" :) But I thought I'd share his lesson so you can save it and read it if you'd rather. Normally he would have posted this under his name instead of mine but for some reason it won't let him copy and paste it since he's not the one that started the blog. weird. Anyway.. here you go..

____________________________

As you can see from the strange title, we are going to have a strange lesson tonight. It is a lesson that is not heard very often. I want to look at two holidays that the Christian culture as a whole celebrates with great gusto. People who are not religious at all also share in the celebration of these two holidays. What we will find is that they are indeed religious holidays, but the problem is they are not Christian at all. The reason why I feel this study is very important to us will become more clear as we move on through it. Most of us know that we don’t celebrate the holidays of Christmas and Easter because the bible tells us nothing of either and we have no command to observe them. But is it wrong for us to become involved in holidays like Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, and Easter? I will try to answer that question tonight. My hope is that when everyone leaves here they will know beyond all doubt what we should do as people that are striving to please the Heavenly Father in every aspect of our lives.
Tonight we need to understand the origin of these holidays, since they are not in the bible. In order to do that, let’s take a moment to understand a little bit of how the Devil works and what he has been up to. The enemy, Satan, has always had one plan of action, to deceive mankind. It was the first thing he did way back in the garden of Eden, tricking Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. He takes the truth and twists it up into a lie that people will swallow. He covers up the truth, hides it, masks it, and persecutes those that have it. He masquerades as an angel of light, making his evil seem good, candy coating his poison to make it tempting at first and death as the result.
We read in Re 20:1: “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
We will get back to explaining this verse in Revelations more later on. We will see what the beast was and still is, and what that has to do with the Devil’s deception of the nations. The Devil has been up to no good deceiving the whole world since the beginning of time. The most powerful and widely spread deception he has managed to pull off started shortly after God purged the world with the great flood. He wastes no time in trying to corrupt mankind. He has to start all over again after the flood, he had messed up the world so bad that God wiped it clean except for 8 people. The Devil hatches a new scheme, a new way to destroy the truth and turn people from serving the creator. Turn with me to Genesis 10 and let’s start in verse 8:

“And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.”
Not much is said of Nimrod in Genesis, but through history we know that he was more than a mighty hunter. He was the king of the known world in his time, he founded the ancient civilization that would become Babylon, which in it’s time would rise to be a major world power as well. It was Nimrod’s kingdom that built the tower of Babel. Ge 11:1 “And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. “
This is very significant. Some things happened in the time of Nimrod that we know from secular history. Ancient Babylonian legend tells us about the religion that was formed by the great deceiver, the Devil, back in the days of Nimrod. When the king of the then known world died, they deified him. That is, after Nimrod died, his civilization that he founded began to call him a god, and worshipped him. The people of ancient Babylon were sun worshippers. They believed that Nimrod became the god of the sun, and they named him Baal. That name should spark some recognition with us, because it’s all over the old testament stories as the god the heathen nations worshipped. Baal has many names in ancient cultures. The reason is because after the tower of Babel, people took this ancient sun god worship religion and spread it all over the world where they went to after their languages were divided up by God.
In every single ancient civilization all over the world we see sun god worship and ancient Babylonian symbols and rituals. They differed in some small ways, the names of the gods were different, the legends varied some, but it all can be traced back to the sun god of Baal, the deified dead Nimrod. The entire world was involved in these evil pagan rituals and sun worship traditions and beliefs, only the Israelites knew the true God and His truth. The Devil had deceived the whole world.
Let’s look at this ancient Babylonian legend involving the sun god Baal and in doing so we will see very quickly the origins of the holidays of Christmas and Easter. So Nimrod dies and they say that he is now a god, and that he is the god of the sun. His wife Semaramus, gets pregnant after he dies. She claims that the sun rays of Nimrod was what got her pregnant and that the child is now the divine son of the sun god and herself. Now, let’s stop right here and notice the obvious similarity of this legend and our own beliefs. See how the Devil is at work? He is twisting the true religion, the true Gospel, into a lie and he is spreading it early, thousands of years before Christ would come as the true Son of the True God. All nations would be very familiar with the idea of a divine birth of the son of a god long before this ever really happens. The legend continues. This baby is born and he is named Tammuz. He also turns out to be a mighty hunter. He takes over the reign of the kingdom. At the age of 40 he is killed while hunting a wild boar. Then he is deified as well and becomes known as the son of god. To honor him, they had 40 days before the spring equinox that they would fast, and this later became lint, it’s the origin of lint.
When Semeramus dies, she is also deified, and becomes known as Eshtar, or Ashteroth, or Astarte, or in English, Easter. This is the barebreasted fertility god of the east, Baal is the sun god of the west. All throughout history in all civilizations you see these two gods. In Egypt they are known as Isis and Osiris. Other names of the sun god are the Mayan Quetzacotyl, and the sun god Rah in other cultures. Now, the sun worshippers made a big deal about the spring equinox. The first Sunday after the spring equinox, they would celebrate Eshtar’s Sunday. This worship service consisted of a sunrise service in which they would take virgins, and get them pregnant on the altar. One year later at the sunrise Sunday service they would take those 3 month old babies and murder them and then collect the blood and then dip eggs in the blood and die them red. Now, we need to mention that eggs were a cymbol to the ancient pagans of fertility. They even believed the earth itself came from a giant egg. As legend goes, when Eshtar died and went to heaven, Baal decided it wasn’t time for her to die yet, so he send her back down to earth in a giant egg that lands in the Euphrates river. She pops out and the first thing that she does is turn a bird into an egg laying rabbit.
Now, let’s stop and point out the obvious. The origin of Easter Sunday is this barbarous, murderous, abomination of the pagans known as Eshtar Sunday. Ever wonder why it’s called Sunday? In fact, our entire calander comes straight from ancient Babylon and is all about their sun gods. The days and the months are all names of pagan gods. The next obvious thing to point out is that the easter bunny is an ancient pagan religious legend. The final obvious thing is that the cute little harmless kiddie tradition of dying eggs and telling kids the easter bunny laid them and hid them in the backyard is non other than an ancient pagan religious rite that involved the sacrifice of infants to the sun god. Turn with me to Jer 32:35: “And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”
The bible confirms secular history. What did God say to His chosen people concerning this ancient pagan religion? Le 20:2: “Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not: Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.”
If you even allowed someone within your sight to murder their child as a sacrifice to Eshtar, or Molech, or Ashteroth, same thing, by the Levitical law you were to be cut off from God’s chosen people. The Devil deceived mankind into committing some of the most brutal, evil things imaginable in their rites and rituals and worship of the sun god and the fertility goddess. In a thousand scriptures God makes it plain that these were abominations, and that He was a jealous God, and he allowed not one tiny bit of this evil when it came to His chosen people. It was the cause of the conquering and enslavement of the Israelite nation time after time. They would turn from worshipping the true God and go conform to the nations around them and worship those gods.
One more tradition for Easter that we get from the pagans is to eat the easter Sunday ham. This was done by the ancient Babylonians in honor of Tammuz who was killed by the boar, they would eat ham on Eshtar’s Sunday to commemorate that event.
The Roman version of Baal and Eshtar was Venus and Cupid. Cupid was baby Tammuz, and now you know the connection with Valentine’s day and Cupid. Even the far east had roots to this ancient religion, the name Zoraster means seed of Ashteroth, or seed of Easter, or son of Easter, which was Tammuz. And he was the Devil’s imposter son of god. From South America to the Orient, the lie was infused in the minds of all the nations.
Now, all throughout the world we have artifacts, some three thousand years old. They are the remnants of ancient sun god worship. Some are idols of these false gods, some are huge monuments. Some are worship tools, some are buildings. The sun disk, or sun wheel, or 8 pointed star, is one of the most prominent. Also, the pine cone was a symbol of fertility. The fir tree was hallowed because it represented fertility, it stayed green all year long. So it was involved in ancient pagan worship as well. The fir tree and sundisk star can be seen around Christmas time at department stores and people’s houses every year. The star on top of the tree is the sun disk, not the star that led the shepherds to baby Jesus.
The crooked staff, or crosier was prominent, and can be found on king Tut’s tomb. The serpent and the dragon find their way in most ancient sun god worship artifacts. The trident is an ancient pagan and satanic worship symbol, showing allegiance. It is in the hands of a statue of the god Neptune. It is commonly known as the Devil’s pitch fork. That’s why when you see the little red guy with horns he is always holding the pitch fork. That trident symbol can be found in the hands of the ancient pagan sun gods, they commonly placed it there. The enemy has his fingerprints all over mankind. He has corrupted the whole world with his ancient imposter religion. 2Co 4:4: “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
Folks, the god of this world is the Devil, and he has his symbols all over the world from all the thousands of years since the flood he has reigned over the heathen nations. When Christ came, he went into overdrive to stamp out the true religion, the true Son of God, and return the world to the worship of his false religion and false son of god. I’ll show you exactly how he did that in a minute.
One more symbol I want to mention. It is known as the obelisk. The word literally means Baals shaft. Now, remember, we are talking about the religion of fertility and sun worship. I’ll leave it up to you to figure out what Baal’s shaft means. Here’s another clue. It’s always positioned inside a circle. This is a detestable monument to the sun god. Legend says that the sun gods live inside these things. It can be found in our capitol, it’s called the Washington monument. It can be found in Egypt, Turkey, London, Amsterdam, Scottland, Switzerland, Germany, Paris France, Mecca (Islam), Buenos Aires Argentina, Ethiopia, Mongolia, and on nearly every Christian church building in the world. That’s right, the steeple. Why do they all have that tall pointy obelisk displayed prominently on their church buildings? We’ll get to that in a minute.
So, when do you think the birthday of all these pagan sun gods was? When did the ancient Babylonians believe Baal and Tammuz were born? The winter solstice. Why? Because that is the day they believed the sun was reborn. It’s when the days start getting longer. It’s when winter is on it’s way out and spring is on it’s way in. What day is the winter solstice? December 25th. Every single pagan sun God’s birthday was on December 25th and was celebrated. The Chaldeans called this day Yule day which literally means day of the infant, or Tammuz. Tammuz was believed by the Chaldeans to come back one day and save them from the world. Again, the Devil’s counterfeit religion. They would burn a Yule log for 12 days which is how long the celebration lasted. Again, are we noticing the origins of some modern day traditions? The term Yule, the idea of 12 days of Christmas?
We can trace the origin of Santa Claus as well. He came from the Scandenavian sun god Odin. Down the ages of time he became known as Old nick. The name Nimrod means mighty one. Nicholas means mighty one. Odin was a tall old man that had a long white beard and carried a crooked staff or crosier. He traveled around the world on a white horse that had eight legs. In all the legends he had a dark helper that went with him. His main symbol was the eternal fir tree. By the 1500’s in Holland Odin was known as Sinterklaas. The legend at that time of Odin was that he rode the skies on his white horse with his dark helpers delivering gifts under his sacred fir trees, and he wore a red cloak and had a long white beard. He would do this on his birthday, dec 25th and give you gifts if you were good or have his black jacks beat you if you had been bad. In the 1700’s a Dutchman came to America and brought his legend with him and in our language Sinterklaas became Santa Claus. In the 1930’s the Coca Cola company took this legend and used it to sell your drink in the winter time. They further adjusted the legend of Odin into what we have now, where the black jacks became elves and the white horse became eight reindeer instead of an eight legged horse.
Santa Claus is the sun god Baal, at the very root of origin. It’s no coincidence that you can move the n and t in Santa and get Satan. In the 1600’s they would have plays about Sinterklaas and he would come on the stage with these three words: ho ho ho. He is called saint nick. The Vatican has confirmed there has never been a saint by that name. The origin of the name Saint Nick comes from Old Nick, which was another name for the Devil in the 1600’s. In the plays he was depicted as a devil, not a jolly old present giving person.
How did the church become involved in pagan rites and rituals? How in the world did the church make it a yearly habit to celebrate holidays involving icons of the devil?
Why is the Shaft of Baal attached to the rooftops of church buildings? Why do people say Jesus died on Friday and rose Sunday morning, when scripture says he would be in the grave 3 days and 3 nights? Where did the idea Christ was born on the winter solstice come from? How did His death and resurrection get pinned to the exact date of the spring equinox?
Does God observe any importance with the cycle of the solar system? No, but the ancient pagans did. That’s why their religion was based around those dates, because they worshipped the sun. It brought heat and light and life to the earth.
Now, here is how the Devil has deceived the nations yet again, in his attempt to stamp out the church and the worship of the true God and His Son. 2,000 years ago, when Jesus came and built His church, the peoples of the world were still doing this same stupid sun god worship, a tradition and false religion passed down from Nimrod and ancient Babylon. This is what the Apostle Paul was up against in his ministry to the Gentiles. Like the Thessalonians, many Gentiles forsook their idols and ancient cultic pagan customs and traditions. The world as a whole did not. The entire human population was still worshipping the Devil’s counterfeit religion, and the rest were Jews who wouldn’t convert. The Romans ran the world all around where the church was begun. The Romans were pagan sun god worshippers. 300 or so years after the church was founded, the ruler of Rome was Constantine. He figured out that he needed to get everyone on the same page with the different religions in his empire. He made it law for the church to combine it’s beliefs with the pagans. So they mixed the two together, which was easy to do since one was a counterfeit of the other anyway. So Tammuz got renamed Jesus and Eshtar got renamed Mary, in all practical terms. In the 5th century the church ordered that Christmas be celebrated and it was the put on the same day as the old Roman feast day the birth of Sol.
The pagan rituals, symbols, and holy days were put into the church in order for Christianity to be easier for them to convert to. In the vactican, in Rome, there is a museum with all kind of ancient artifacts. The Vatican itself, and many of the Catholic buildings around the world are infused with pagan symbols. The very shape of the Vatican itself when viewed from the air resembles Baals shaft, even more obvious than a straight sided obelisk. In the center of it is a huge obelisk, which is surrounded by a huge sun wheel. The bishops and popes and such carry crosiers with pine cones and dragons and serpents fashioned on top. On the papel crest is a winged dragon. Even the plate that the communion bread goes on has the crescent moon and the circlular shaped bread itself placed on the crescent moon finishes the symbol of Eshtar and Baal. Door handles, statues, you name it. They are covered in pagan symbols. The Catholic church is pagan sun gold worship with the names changed to characters from the gospels. More paganism and less Christianity was the result of Constantine’s efforts to mix the two to make it easier to convert the pagans to Christianity.
The Devil couldn’t destroy the truth, so he hid it and corrupted it. He used Rome in the same way he used Babylon from ancient times. It became the spreading civilization for his corrupt religion yet again. From Rome came all of western culture. Europe, North and South America, Iceland, Greenland, Canada. We all came from Roman civilization. And we all took the corrupted version of the church into our posterity.
Still today, the ancient sun god celebration of the winter solstice and spring equinox are taking place, with all of the ancient symbols intact. 4,000 years of tradition, and it’s barely changed from culture to culture year to year.
The protestant reformers understood the corruption of the Catholic church in many ways. They figured out where these pagan rituals came from and condemned them. On May 11th, 1659 in Massechustes Bay Colony, it was made illegal to celebrate Christmas and the penalty was a fine.
Now, let’s take a look at how God viewed this corruption of His church with this false religion He has always so hated since the day the ancient Babylonians invented it with the help of the Devil. Re 17:1: And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7 ¶ And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. 12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. 14 ¶ These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. 15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
I am scared to try to explain any part of Revelations for fear I will teach a wrong interpretation. Some of this I understand to be referring to the nation of Rome. I think what we are reading here in this chapter is God’s prophesy that He will punish and destroy Rome because it was involved in the ancient Babylonian religion, that great whore that was the mother of all the abominations of the earth.
All the false religions came from Nimrod’s sun worshipping civilization just shortly after God wiped the earth clean with the flood. The Devil is not lazy. He is smart, and works tirelessly. He is the most formidable foe we can imagine. God overthrew Rome because it had taken this evil religion and infused it into His church, and corrupted it into the very same abomination that He sent His own Son to overcome. And He has and still will overcome, as the passage fortells. It tells us about the true followers were persecuted, no doubt they refused to bend to the proclamation of Constantine and the clergy to observe the paganism they were converted out of. Behind all this evil and trickery is the beast, the one that comes out of the bottomless pit, the same pit we read about at the first of the lesson. The beast is the Devil.
So, you might be thinking, all this history is nice, but the holidays don’t mean that to me. All the people that celebrate the holidays don’t even know the origin. They are good people worshipping God. Isn’t it a good thing that people are remembering and celebrating the birth of the Christ and His resurrection? When I celebrate Easter and Christmas, I am not doing it like the pagans, I am celebrating God and Jesus, not Baal and Eshtar. Is this really wrong? Is this a sin to partake in these holy days? And, what about 1Co 8?
Well, let’s go there and talk about that for a second. 1 Cor 8:1 “Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. 5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; 11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. 13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.”
So the weak brother abstains from meat offered to idols because his faith is not strong enough to realize there is only one true God and the idols mean nothing, and the meat is still just meat and ok to eat. Can we take this passage and apply it to worshipping God after the fashion of the ancient pagans? Can I use an ancient false god’s holy day to worship the one true holy God of the universe? Will he accept that? Does God care? Does this passage in Corinthians give us license to do that? After all, they are not real gods, just like the idols are not real, and if you can eat meat offered to an idol you can observe a holiday from 4,000 years ago for false gods, right?
Let’s read a few verses of scripture before answering those questions.
Jer 10:1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. {customs...: Heb. statutes, or, ordinances are vanity. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Le 18:30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God
Mr 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
De 12:1 ¶ These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God
God said, concerning the very holy days and gods under question tonight, the following:
1. Learn not the way of the heathen.
2. Don’t commit any of the abominable customs.
3. Destroy even the names of the false gods, and do not worship the Lord your God with the same things and in the same ways the heathens worship the false gods.
The bible has to harmonize, and God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If He said destroy and stay away from this sun god religion all the heathens partake in, then we have to do that today just as much as His chosen people did back then. He is still a jealous God. To say that we can worship God with the ancient Babylonian sun god worship holy days goes against tons of scriptures. So to try to apply the teaching of 1 Corinthians 8 to condone the holidays is not harmonizing scripture and therefore would be an incorrect application of that verse. I submit to you that Paul said exactly what he said, and it does not apply to any other situation than what he applies it to. Eating food is different than observing a pagan holy day that has been stuck to very special events related to the true God and our salvation. Why would God not be offended and insulted at this. Think about it like this. God, I am going to remember the birth of my savior, your only Son, on the totally wrong day, which happens to be the winter solstice, which happens to also be the birthday of the very first false god ever invented, which I know you hate and detest more than anything in existence. And I am going to do this even though you have not asked me to celebrate the birth of the savior anywhere in your holy word, but I know it’s ok because you said I can eat meat offered to idols.
And, by the way, Lord, I will also use that scripture to allow myself to observe another holiday all the rest of the world observes, because I don’t like to be different and stand out from the crowd, I want to conform to the world. This other holy day, Lord, also aligns with the sun god you detest and abhor because it is the mother of all abominations on the earth. This holiday has this fun tradition of children collecting colored eggs, and I know that represents the blood from sacrificed infants to the goddess of fertility, but it doesn’t mean that to me, so that makes it OK.
God calls us to be holy, separate, set apart. Pure and unspotted from the world. He makes it clear a thousand times how much he hates the worship or involvement of false gods of any kind. He commanded His people to destroy any trace of those gods and even told them not to utter the names of the false gods. Yet here we are, in a Christian nation that uses the ancient Babylonian calendar with the names of the gods for days and months, and all the churches worshipping God on ancient sun god worship holy days. The Devil is probably laughing his head off. One day, God will have the final laugh. The ones that will be victorious over the Devil and reign with Jesus forever will be the ones that did not involve themselves with the ancient Babylon religion. We just read that in Revelations.
I know this was a long lesson with a lot of information. I hope that I succeeded in convincing everyone to stay away from the holidays the whole nation embraces.
